


State Rep. Doug Wozniak (R-Shelby Township) expressed his strong appreciation for the $2.5 million state appropriation included in the state budget awarded to the Oakland Macomb Interceptor Drain Drainage District. This funding will be used to construct a much-needed odor and corrosion control facility in Sterling Heights, addressing a longstanding issue impacting residents and businesses.
The project aims to reduce harmful and persistent sewer odors caused by hydrogen sulfide gas at a critical junction of two major sanitary sewer interceptors along 15 Mile Road and the ITC corridor.
“This $2.5 million funding is a positive step forward for the Macomb and Oakland County communities,” said Wozniak. “I applaud the leadership and hard work of those who made it happen. Projects like this improve public health, protect infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life for families, businesses, and public services in our region.”
The advanced odor control facility will help extend the lifespan of the sewer infrastructure while significantly reducing the noxious smells that have affected neighborhoods, parks, schools, and emergency services in the area for decades.
