Rep. Pavlov passes funding to protect Marysville’s water supply
RELEASE|September 2, 2025

State Rep. Joseph Pavlov highlighted that funding for a new seawall at the Marysville City Water Filtration Plant has been included in the House Republican ‘Value for MI Dollars’ budget plan approved by the Michigan House of Representatives on Tuesday. The project will now be a part of final negotiations on the state budget, which are currently underway.

Pavlov (R-Smiths Creek) championed $750,000 for the critical infrastructure project, which will safeguard the facility from shoreline erosion and long-term flood damage. Pavlov voted in favor of the budget, which passed in a bipartisan vote on Aug. 26.

“This week’s vote was a win for Marysville and for the thousands of families who rely on clean, safe drinking water every day,” Pavlov said. “This shows how much of a priority our community is at the Capitol and it brings this critical project one step closer to completion. I am proud to help protect our community’s water supply and advocate for a smart investment in public health and infrastructure.”

The Marysville City Water Filtration Plant provides water service throughout the region. Without a stable seawall, the facility has been vulnerable to damage from erosion. The new seawall will reinforce the plant’s long-term reliability.

Pavlov said the funding reflects the overall budget’s commitment to responsible investments that strengthen communities and protect critical infrastructure.

“The budget we passed invests in the core priorities that matter most to people,” Pavlov said. “We worked for months to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in state spending to free up money for real priorities like road repairs, tax cuts and important projects like this. Our budget is all about protecting families, our economy, and the essential services we all depend on.”

The Value for MI Dollars budget plan now advances to the Michigan Senate for consideration as negotiations continue between the House Republicans, Senate Democrats and Gov. Whitmer.
