Rep. Berman honoring first responders, welcomes local nominations
RELEASE|February 12, 2021

State Rep. Ryan Berman, of Commerce Township, has announced a First Responder of the Year Contest for Michigan’s 39th House District in Oakland County.

“These individuals put their lives on the line every day they put on the uniform and they do it to keep their neighbors and communities safe,” said Berman, who served as a reserve deputy with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office prior to becoming a legislator. “That is worthy of our gratitude and recognition. I look forward to going over the nominations and reading the many stories of service, sacrifice and heroism.”

Residents are invited to nominate a first responder that either works or lives within the district – which includes the city of Wixom, Commerce Township, a portion of West Bloomfield Township and the village of Wolverine Lake. First responders in six different categories will receive awards: police officer/trooper, corrections officer, dispatcher, deputy, firefighter and paramedic/EMT.

Those wishing to submit a nomination should include their name and contact information, as well as the nominee’s name, title and organization. The submission should also include a description of why the individual should receive the award.

Nominations can be turned in until May 1 via email at [email protected]. Those with questions regarding the contest can call Rep. Berman’s office at (517) 373-1799 or visit his website.
