Michigan House Republicans
Mission for Michigan Checklist
RELEASE|July 14, 2025

By: State Rep. Pauline Wendzel

During the 2024 campaign, House Republicans laid out our vision for the state and promises to Michigan voters.  At the halfway point of 2025, I’m incredibly proud of the work our caucus has done and wanted to provide an update on our Mission for Michigan.

We passed legislation to lower the income tax, stop energy rate hikes in the U.P., and roll back costly green energy mandates that threaten our grid. We put parents back in the driver’s seat of their kids’ education, improved school safety, and cracked down on secretive political backroom deals. We laid out a serious plan to fix local roads without raising taxes and stood up for our farmers, families, and seniors.

Our agenda is bold, aggressive, and focused on the issues that matter most: affordability, accountability, energy affordability, and public safety.

And what have Senate Democrats done during the past six months? Almost nothing.

Instead of working with us to make Michigan more affordable, they’ve sat on our bills. Instead of addressing the real problems facing working families, they’ve stalled, delayed, and played politics. While we’ve passed numerous bills to lay out a clear vision for Michigan’s future, the Democrat-controlled Senate has killed or ignored nearly all of them.

The House is leading with a blueprint for a stronger, safer, more affordable state. Senate Democrats are blocking progress, learning nothing from the past election.

The people of Michigan deserve better than partisan gridlock. They deserve results. That’s why House Republicans will keep doing our job—fighting for taxpayers, protecting our communities, and pushing for common-sense reforms that move Michigan forward.

We’ve made our priorities clear. Now it’s time for the Senate to get off the sidelines and get to work.
